Pretty good on Under the Green Light
I really like this one; it's got everything - Great story, wonderful art style and very hot s** scenes!
The storyline is interesting. It's gangster-based so there is violence, but it's not gratuitous. The backstories of the main characters are explained well and generally their character development is good. The side characters are also intriguing, which I find is rare in yaoi. There is enough of a build up of the story in season 1 (and not just the cliffhanger ending!) that sets up season 2 and makes you want to read more.
The romance plot is good too - I like it when both characters are chasing each other and it's not just one-sided. The gangster is the uke - he's a badass and a true power bottom. The seme is a bit clueless at first but he soon learns! They are very into each other and this is portayed well.
The art style is amazing - Some people might not like the comicbook-esque textures used but I liked it. Drawing is consistent so far. The s** scenes are very hot - they're not overly long or obscenely vulgar; they are just the right amount of graphic, lustful and heartfelt. I like that both the seme and uke are well-built men - they are both tall and muscled and the height/size difference isn't overly exaggerated like in some (lesser) manga.
Translations are generally good for season one - there are more refined ones out there though if you care to look for them. Fan translations on more recent chapters are abysmal! I can barely tell what's happening. I'll be waiting for the officials before I revisit season 2 I think.
Overall it's a very, very good example of yaoi done well. I would definitely recommend giving this a go. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that I need to see what happens in season 2/to the end to give a final judgement.
