In my perspective, it’s a pretty great, solid story.

Hyungwuk Shin, known for other YLAB/Bluestring works like Study Group, did a great job capturing these characters accurately—even ones he hadn’t written before, like Dajun or Hwajin.

The story explores themes of redemption vs. revenge, mainly through Gamin, Dajun, and Hwajin, with much of the early conflict revolving around Gamin and Dajun and how they each influence the central character, Yeonwoo.

Yeonwoo’s inner conflict is really I'd say is pretty compelling as his backstory starts to surface. He connects with Dajun through their shared struggles with their unloving fathers, and with Gamin through the pain of being hurt by someone they loved who also loved them back, though Yeonwoo’s experience is more extreme.

Placing the story after the Gunyeob expulsion arc adds depth to Gamin’s rejection of revenge—especially when it can lead to death or irreversible consequences. Yeonwoo, burdened by guilt over his mother’s death, finds Dajun offering him a path of revenge and familial understanding, while Gamin presents a path toward redemption and self-reflection.

The pacing can feel slow at times, but it gives space for other characters to shine. Plus some of the interactions are pretty fun. Especially when Gamin and Hanlim met.

To me, the story’s message is about how we often blame ourselves for things beyond our control—like a butterfly effect—and sometimes direct that blame toward others. But instead of letting the past define or break us, it’s about growing, healing, and learning to value what we have.

As Kung Fu Panda 2 put it:
"Your story may not have such a happy beginning, but that doesn’t make you who you are; it’s the rest of your story—who you choose to be."

That line captures Yeonwoo perfectly I'd say.

Kazooie
KazooieKinda bad on  I'm a Villainess, but I Won't Live Like One
MC is really good, she's likeable and striving to change for the better, she also seems to naturally like kids and even before her change she was never a "Real villainess" like the story says - She treated her employees like employees and somehow she's hated for it, she tried to kill the original stories FL, rightfully so because the FL fuc**** cucked the MC.

NTR is immediate death sentence!

Also the ML is TRASH. This loser cheated on the MC, murdered her for trying to kill the NTR protag, treats men better than woman, even little girls! This loser visits an orphanage and only helps out the fuc**** boys, whereas the MC comes along and helps them all regardless of gender.

And to top it off even after her "change for the better" he still treats her with a condescending attitude, like he's just naturally better than her. His arrogance pis*** a lot of readers off, most comments every chapter agree that he's unworthy of the MC.

He's just a massive sexist.

Adding on to this.

Read spoilers.
She's a fair Boss. Rewarding those who do good work, punishing those who make mistakes. But plays by Noble rules as a "Proper Lady".  And gets hated for it by everyone, for 0 reason.

OGFL is a fking psycho later on. And easily fooled by the overarching villain. Into doing evil deeds.

ML is unrepentant, and you can see the author is super heavy handed on forcing his ship of MC + Generic ML.  And he's just the fking worst. And always finds a way to make things the MC's fault / the MC being the bad guy.  But won't break off the engagement.

Lara the cute cinnamon roll girl (whom gets adopted near the end by MC) along with MC. Are the only characters worth reading in this train wrek of a story.
