 Normally, I don’t read stories this dark and I stop immediately if there’s ra** or sexual abuse. But for some reason, this one is different. I found the series weirdly compelling in how it presents its world and characters. The plot is subtle rather than straightforward, but it is there, especially across what feel like different “seasons” of the story. (It ends then starts back up again..) I haven’t revisited the earlier parts in a while, but the newer season is noticeably calmer in comparison, with less shock-focused content and more room for narrative progression. It’s uncomfortably strange, but you can’t stop looking. That weird tension between fascination and revulsion is part of what makes it so difficult to stop reading. 

 Overall, my high rating doesn’t reflect approval of the abusive content, but rather the structure, world building, and the subtle storytelling hidden behind all the drama.
