Pretty good on A Tree Without Roots
Hi! My name is Zenith, and I write SPOILER-FREE reviews on underrated yaoi manga, manhwa, and manhua. My reviews almost always consist of psychological, horror, and avant-garde stories.
A Tree Without Roots (TWR) is one of the most lore-heavy and enjoyable yaoi manhwa I've ever read. Kudos to the creator for making a suspenseful plot that always has me looking forward to the next chapter. TWR dives into many dark topics, such as ra**, murder, suicide, and more.
STORYTELLING - The storytelling of TWR is beautiful. It's extremely well crafted and has an amazing and constantly driving plot. Scenes are executed very smoothly and nicely. The s** scenes, although minimal, are great as well. 9/10.
CHARACTERS - I really enjoyed the characters in TWR. The main character is quite childish and clingy. It's obvious he has abandonment issues. I personally wasn't a fan of his personality. I like how the deuteragonist has a cold front but when in bed he's really shy 😳. The other characters are great and unique; they serve their purpose well. 8/10.
WORLDBUILDING - The worldbuilding is simple. The places and settings in the story are good since they are relevant to the plot or are reoccurring places that the characters visit. TWR takes place in a more modern and realistic era, so there's not too much to worldbuild. 8/10.
ART - The art in the first few chapters of TWR isn't really that great. To be frank, I thought it was lacking. The creator makes up for it in the rest of the chapters with beautiful line work and exceptional facial expressions. 8/10.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading Season 1 of TWR! I can't wait for Season 2. If you're looking for mainly s**, then maybe this one isn't for you. But if you want an angsty toxic couple and an underlying mystery with a sprinkle of sm**, then it wouldn't hurt to give TWR a try!
My overall rating for A Tree Without Roots would be an 8/10.
Thank you for reading my review! Zenith out.
